HGAC and NJ State Contract makes apparatus purchasing easier

With the legislation allowing municipalities to take part in co-operative purchase programs as well as introducing its own state contract for fire apparatus, municipalities now have a streamlined purchasing path that can save it time and money in making their apparatus purchasing.

“These process are hopefully going to help the municipalities be able to obtain the apparatus their communities have needed at better cost than the public bidding platform has allowed,” explained Fire & Safety Services President David Russell, “The early returns are showing savings both on cost of apparatus, but more importantly, savings in the administrative costs; since the process is much more streamlined.”

With the fiscal climate of the last few years, apparatus purchasing has lagged behind previous years rates, which has required municipalities and fire districts to pour money into aged equipment until such time they could justify their purchase.  With the savings that have been projected, this may move forward a purchase a year sooner than previously thought.
