Keyport’s Consolidated Fire Protection holding 1st annual Beef Steak Night April 21, 2012

Consolidated Fire Protection of Keyport is having it’s 1st ever Beef Steak Dinner fundraiser. Tickets are required and are $35 pre-ordered/$45 at the door (and limited). Old 732-752-2400 number being discontinued - use 800-400-8017

After 4 years at our new location, and 4 years of having a new area code and exchange, we are disconnecting the automatic roll-over that we have had on our old 732-752-2400 number. If you dial the 732 number you will get a message for a while that the number has been disconnected and to dial our 800-400-8017 number. After a few months that message will also go away and it will just say that the number is disconnected.

Burn Awareness Week, February 5-11, 2012

February 5-11, 2012 is Burn Awareness Week. Please keep that in mind as you go about your daily lives. While scalds and minor burns are a “part of the job” for those in the fire service, the vast majority of injuries are household accidents and many involve small children, whose skin is thinner than adults and suffer substantially more damage than an adult would in similar circumstances.

For all the members of the fire service out there, please be safe, and do what you can to support those wonderful organizations and the angels that work with burn victims. As someone who once spent a night at St. Barnabas Burn Center for observation after a fire ground incident, I can attest to the wonderful things that these people do and the gut wrenching things they have to deal with on a daily basis. This is one of the reasons that Fire & Safety Services, proudly sponsors the Burn Foundation (www.burnfoundation.org) and their efforts through the piece of art that Joe Getsinger does each year on their behalf. The Burn Foundation works hard on several fronts (Prevention, Education, Treatment, Recovery) to limit the number of injuries, and the impact on the victims. The work with four hospitals that cover Southern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland to accomplish this goal.

Memorial T-Shirt Sale in memory of son of Carlstadt FF KIA in Iraq

There are memorial T-shirts being sold that benefit the NJ Fireman Home and the Wounded Warrior Project. The T-shirts are in memory of Lance Corporal Michael Schwarz who was killed in action in Al Anbar, Iraq. Michael Schwarz is the son of long time Carlstadt firefighter Ken Schwarz. Classic Car & Motorcyle Show in Carlstadt to honor First Responders May 6, 2012

LODD - Bruce Turcotte Hopelawn Fire Department

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Bruce Turcotte of the Hopelawn Fire Department in Woodbridge, NJ. Bruce Turcotte, 58, died at the scene of a house fire in the Menlo Park Section of Woodbridge. He was member of the department for nearly 40 years and was also a former chief of the department. More importantly he was a great person; a friend to all, and a mentor to many. He was just in our shop the other day to pay us a visit, and it stunning to realize that we will never again experience his quick wit, biting humor, and easy laugh. Yesterday, the fire service lost an role model of everything that is right about the volunteer fire service. The thoughts and condolences of all of us at Fire & Safety Services are with his two families - the Turcotte family and the Hopelawn Fire Department family. He will be missed, but never forgotten!

Pierce and Harley-Davidson Announce NFFF Full Throttle Support 3 Sweepstakes Winner

(December 9, 2011) - Pierce Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation [NYSE: OSK] company, and Harley-Davidson Motor Company [NYSE: HOG] today awarded Fire Chief Kevin Barnes of the Rescue Hose Company No. 1 in Greencastle, Penn., a Harley-Davidson® Street Glide® motorcycle as the winner in the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) Full Throttle Support 3 sweepstakes. The motorcycle is on display at the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, Calif. The NFFF Full Throttle Support campaign recently completed its third consecutive year and has, in that time, generated donations of $275,000 to assist the NFFF.

Chief Barnes has been a member of Rescue Hose Company No. 1 since 1979, and was named its chief in 2006. “We are blessed to be able to regularly support the important cause and work of the NFFF,” said Chief Barnes. “In the fire service, we care for our own. And the NFFF honors those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and sustains their families and loved ones with important support programs. The commitment of Pierce and Harley-Davidson speaks volumes about the importance both companies place on helping the families of these fallen heroes.”

“I’ve been riding for about 40 years,” continued Barnes, “and the fire service and motorcycles are two of my passions. Living close to the NFFF headquarters, I hope to display the bike at events and use it in whatever way I can to help generate awareness and funds for the Foundation. I’m very excited to take this awesome bike on the open road!”

Pierce senior vice president of sales Dan Peters added, “Pierce and its dealer family is proud to support the NFFF Full Throttle initiative. It is now the longest running and most successful charitable fundraising program we’ve ever been associated with. Since its inception, NFFF Full Throttle Support has generated close to 20,000 individual donations to the NFFF.
